creating fantasy and then achieving it

Hi All, This Is Yogesh Dadkar from India...

I would like to share the experience I had with creating fantasy and then achieving it through real actions and focus.
I would be really happy if it help someone and inspire him or her to achieve their Fantasy Goal sooner than later.
So here is my success story which I had achieved:
I am excited to do the troubleshooting work and in that electronics.
I finished my engineering in 2001 and was working in a small shop for computer repairing, during that time I was trying to learn what is network what is power supply what is the hard drive and what is motherboard ...all are computer internal parts.
So I captured whoever expert in that and started learning then I pore my own interest and started repairing the power supply. In a year I was able to repair almost 40-50 computer power supplies a day. (if you want to do something - you need to squeeze that subject) literally, I did that and was able to work that for a full day.
After 2 years of working, I was able to repair the motherboard and power supply, and system installation.
As Bob said, once you are in your comfort zone start to break it and look for new Y ideas. Starting in 2003 My colleague did CCNA and he said if you are interested then go ahead and do it. That strikes me to do it.
That time in a flash I changed my track and started preparing for the exam. It was my 1st online objective question exam for me.
But I did with all my efforts and courage and fantasy and passed the exam in August 2003.
This was the turning point of my carrier. Immediately I got the new job with yearly income into monthly income. That pushes me the trigger in mind what is the path of Cisco certification and what is the extreme. Then I heard from a friend that CCIE is the top certification and it would reward a high monthly salary. In that movement, I decide if I want to become financial stability in life then I have to pass this stage.
My Terror barrier was forcing me not to go there. It is tough and at that time there were only 18000 CCIE certified in the world If I need to go then I have to spend 15 times my 2003 salary. From where the money will come? How can I read those many books, each book is 800 to 1200 pages. But my mother and brother said if you feel so and want to do? DO IT.
And I started that work in 2004 with a Target of 3 years that I will pass the exam by 2007 end. I started saving money for exams, books, practice notes, mentors, and lab practice. Everything is started.
I took concession of 30 minutes less work from my that company for study and started preparing for CCNP and finished it by 2005 all 4 exams from own pocket.
Here my real fight started for CCIE. I was working for one of the know telecom company and my day was starting 5:30 am in the morning to finish the 1st shift in the office with a travel time of 1 and half hour one side and after finishing the job I was going to attend the lecture for 5 hours (including some hands-on lab practice)
During travel, I had decided to read the book (as I was traveling during odd times, due to that less traffic on the road). I read more than 15 books during that 24-month period. If I can't carry 1000 pages then I use to take print of that then convert it into small parts and carry that particular part which can be carried easily.
This way I had prepared myself to attempt the theory exam in 2007 and passed it on 1st attempt.
Here my 2nd Big move attempt was in and ask: $1200 exam fee, exam location either Dubai or Brussels, travel, and hotel cost extra. Everything was from the pocket.
But I went I decided to break the barrier, during the final exam attempt I was studying 18 hours a day for almost 3 months.
During that time my day started was 7 pm in the evening and ends at 7 am in the morning, as it took the cheapest practice online lab. It was costing me 35$ for 12 hours.
In support of that my brother gave me some money to purchase the desktop, it was that time's latest model.
It was really tough to practice the same concept again and again for 12 hours and in parallel keep me motivated. To have an internet redundancy I was using 2 internet connections and 2 different broadband providers, if both were down then 1G internet by telecom provider (128 kbps speed).
sometimes I use to feel, leave it and relax with my job. But the inner voice was saying do it man...why fear. that movement I was forcing myself with full interest.
The exam date was a big thing at that time, as there were 8 centers in the world, and it was tough to get the Date for the exam.
I use to seat for 15 minutes to 1 hour to find the date.
Finally, in April 2007 I got the date in Dubai and the rule is you have to pay the fee 1 month before the exam. So I have to decide if I am ready or not. In June 2007 I took the big decision that I am yet not ready for Aug 2007 exam, So I need to drop the date. It was a really tough movement to press that single mouse click to drop the date which I had. The moment I dropped it, it vanished from the system in 10 seconds. I think someone would be happy in the world that he was really looking and he got it.
Then my date search work started, and when I feel let me try and check, I use to log in to the website and check.
My mother use to ask me almost 30 times a day. Have you tried to get another date? any luck? and my response was no ...not.
My study was going on as it is....to do the study for 18 odd hours, I took 1 more major decision of leaving the Job in Aug 2007. But the vision or fantasy was clear leave the current salary structure and take the quantum leap salary hike...
Between Aug 2007 to till Nov 2007 my action was ...study and focus. Solve the doubts, do more study. To make mind refreshment talk with friends and back to study.
Things were moving day by day, and 1 day morning at 9:30 am I got the Date in Dubai for my CCIE exam, it was the date of Nov 2007. I grabbed it almost in the flash. My mother was so happy that she was feeling that my son is working so hard to achieve the GOAL. She use to wake up in the night almost 6 times to ask me only 1 question ...Yogesh are you ok? do you need anything? can I make tea for you?
I know she was trying to support me from her side.
because of consistent practice overnight for more than a month, I started feeling acidity issues. I visited the doctor and started the medication, but no interruption to study and certification practice.
I was pushing myself to the extreme with 1 thought If others can do it then I can do it.
1 more important thing I did, which I like to share here: I worked on time-saving parameters. How can I save time while typing the command? sometimes it was a 10 to 15-word command and it was taking 35 seconds of time to type. I have typed almost 3000 to 5000 lines for full exam configuration within 8 hours of the exam, excluding the troubleshooting commands.
Then I got to know the alias option in the system, it helped me to set the shortcuts in or 2 max 3 characters, if I type that alphabet or alphabets sequence then I will get my command keyword even if it is a big word. After consistent practice of it, it helped to save 1 hour during my real exam.
I paid my exam fee in Oct 2007 and now I am traveling to Dubai, my 1st international travel. I booked my emirates ticket and Dubai hotel.
Things were moving closer and closer. Every day I was watching the calendar and I was talking to myself that "1 more day gone".
Because of hard work and commitment, I was happy during my exam.
Nov 2007 started and an unexpected thing happened, my mother was not feeling well. My sister came home (she is a doctor by profession), and she had decided we need to admit my mother to the hospital that night.
The next morning, the doctor confirmed that it is dengue, everyone was telling me you focus on my study. We will take care of her.
I was studying for almost 18 hours and my brother and sister were running for blood, so he or they can get the platelets for my mother.
But we were really lucky and we got many blood donators and we were able to restore platelets level for my mother in 4 days.
1 day before my travel to Dubai, my mother got discharged from the hospital.
And finally, that day arrived in Nov 2007 and I traveled to Dubai for an exam and reached the exam center. It was 8 hours practical exam right started at 7:40 am and finished by 3:40 pm. When I left the exam center I was fully exhausted as almost 3 years of the load has suddenly gone down to 0. After I woke up that time my colleague told me that when we left the exam center and you entered in the cab to go back to the hotel you were completely down and he helped me to reach the hotel room and without any thought, I collapsed on the bed.
I slept for 3 hours, with no thought of food or anything. At 8 pm I woke up to check the result, I log in and verified on the website AND I found that I passed the exam. I can't express that movement in words......
I called back in India to inform them that I passed, and my friends and family members were so happy that everyone started celebrating my success.
The reason to post my real story, after passing the CCIE exam I re-visited the same company for a Job that I joined in 2003. After the interview, they offered me 10 times of salary compared to the salary when I left that company in 2004. (During my exam practice I kept a Goal note with 10 times my salary on that and I was watching it on a daily basis.)
to conclude my story, this works phenomenally, just you have to be ready to put that much effort. JUST DO IT. It should come from the inner voice.
Like Bob Proctor says...do not hurry for purpose, just keep searching, one day will come and it will be crisp and clear!!!! Thank you for reading a few years of my life. those were the days!!!!
